Moral High Ground

Moral High Ground.

John Kerry; 2004 Presidential election, the conservative right and Bush attacked Kerry’s war record (and he had one to attack unlike Bush). Kerry volunteered for the U.S. Navy and then volunteered for one of the most dangerous duties in Vietnam, river patrol boat. Kerry could have avoided the war, he had money and influence. But he was attacked as unpatriotic and un-American.
2000 Republican primaries John McCain; shot down over North Vietnam, spent 5 years as a prisoner of war. McCain's father was commander of US Pacific Forces and the North Vietnamese offered McCain freedom for this. McCain refused. He would not go until everyone went. Talk about bravery. The conservative right and Bush attacked McCain and questioned his patriotism and Loyalty.
Max Cleland US Senator from Georgia running for reelection 20004; the conservative right and Bush attacked his war record and questioned his patriotism and loyally; In Vietnam all Celand did was lose both legs and his right arm!
And the conservatives and George Bush claim the Moral high ground. The Patch doesn’t think so not by a long shot. Shame on George H.W. Bush for not stopping these attacks. He knows what it is to shot down. Shame on Senator Dole, he knows what it is to be badly wounded, shame on them all.
