Patch Thinks

Great Book

This is going to be along blog, it’s what happens on a Holiday weekend when NASCAR isn’t running, the UFO van is out of service, and it’s raining. Rob and I are continuing to read “Miracle at Philadelphia” and discussing if Democracy can survive in the United States under a one party system. We are sure democracy can’t survive under a dictator or a theocracy, or under control of multinational corporations. We hope you read the blog just to give you something to think about, but we blog for therapeutic reasons and to make our own selves think.

From Rob.

If a particle moves faster than the speed of light, it must create a shockwave, and radiate energy. Cerenkov radiation is exactly that. Nothing can travel faster than the speed at which light travels *in a vacuum*. But, it's possible to slow light down in a medium other than vacuum. In such a medium, (air) it's possible to have a source of light that travels faster than light does *in that medium*. When this happens, you get the equivalent of a sonic boom for light: Cerenkov Radiation. ( Blue streak of light) Rob says we don’t see this when UFOs are zooming around. But he still hoping that there is some detectable infrared radiation left as a UFO travels through the atmosphere. We know that cell phone engineers kept seeing holes moving trough their networks and finally found out that it was US Air Force stealth planes. No reports off UFOs making these holes.

Patch asks, where would a catastrophic illness leave you?

President Bush and conservative Congress want tort reform would preclude malpractice claims like that which has paid for a lot Terry Schiavo's care. Bush wants a 250,000 dollar cap. How long would that last? They also want to stop funding on Medicaid that pays for the kind of care that someone like Terry Schiavo and many others who are not so severely brain damaged need all across this country. And they are trying to pass a bankruptcy bill to make it more difficult for families who suffer a catastrophic illness like Terry Schiavo's because they will not be able to declare chapter 7 bankruptcy and get a fresh start when the gargantuan medical bills become overwhelming.

If we continue to say Terry Schiavo has the right to live, ( in this type of case) are we not saying everyone has the right? And at the same time are we not saying that on one has the right to die? If President Bush and Congress steps in as it has tried to do are they not responsible for the cost? When your emotions come back to normal, think of the long term consequences of catastrophic illness. Patch wonders how many of the protesters would hang around if they were asked to contribute ah say $100 a month until this woman died, or regained consciousness? Or everyone chip in maybe $20 a year in taxes to help everyone? (medicaid)

From Patch and Rob.
We like the way bloggers are trying to hold the media accountable, but we think they should hold all media accountable, bloggers should start holding the Rush Limbaugh’s of the world accountable, and hold our selves accountable. WE don't like the way bloggers try to portray others as dumb or dumber, even if some bloggers are.
We would like to see bloggers become the watch dogs of government. To force all levels, local, state and federal to be truthful, ethical, and open. No matter if the government is trying to do something you like or dislike, no matter if you voted for someone or not we need to stop the lies, deceit, propaganda, and most of all the secrecy. Democracy will not last long the way things are going right now. A government for whatever reasons that does its business in secret and using propaganda to futher its agenda is no longer a democratic government. Patch and Rob don't care if the government is liberal, conservative or made up of aliens, it must be open and honest to the people they represent. If our representatives, as they do now, bury their true agendas deep in 1000 page congressional bills and late amendments to congressional bills we do not have true representation.

Comments:
I find your blog very informative and filled with wisdom.Although I am not at the point of being able to keep my emotions in check, I do understand the value of being able to control my emotions and respond to other bloggers in a calm and clear manner.I still have a lot to learn .You are correct in the fact that nothing is accomplished if all sides just argue and degrade each other.I will try to work on that.
