Science Now current PBS program features a segment on
Naomi Halas and nanoshells. Halas is the Stanley C. Moore Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University. She also teaches chemistry at Rice. Dr. Halas is developing applications for nanoshells, the gold nanodevices she invented, in early-stage cancer detection and photothermal malignant tumor treatment, among other biomedical applications.
