Veterans

Being a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (1963 – 1967), Southeast Asia (Vietnam , Thailand 1965) had to pass this post on.
Republicans don’t piss me off much, but they do on this issue. Shame on them.

Who Served? A reminder From a kos diary

Democrats

• Bob Kerrey: Lt. j.g. Navy 1966-69;Medal of Honor, Vietnam.

• John Kerry: Lt., Navy 1966-70; Silver Star, Bronze Star, etc.

• Richard Gephardt: Air National Guard, 1965-71.

•George McGovern: Silver Star & DFC during WWII.

• Walter Mondale: Army 1951-1953

• Tom Daschle: 1st Lt., Air Force SAC 1969-72.

• Al Gore: Enlisted 1969; sent to Vietnam as army journalist.

• Jimmy Carter: Seven years in the Navy.

• John Glenn: WWII and Korea; six DFCs and Air Medal.

• Daniel Inouye: Army 1943-47; Medal of Honor, WWII.

• Charles Rangel: Staff Sgt., Army 1948-52; Bronze Star, Korea.

• Max Cleland: Captain, Army 1965-68; Silver & Bronze Stars. (Lost Both legs and one arm in Vietnam)

• Tom Harkin: Lt., Navy, 1962-67; Naval Reserve, 1968-74.

• Gray Davis: Army Captain in Vietnam, Bronze Star.

The Republicans:

• Dick Cheney: did not serve. (Five deferments!)

• Dennis Hastert: did not serve.

• Tom Delay: did not serve.

• Bill Frist: did not serve.

• Mitch McConnell: did not serve.

• Rick Santorum: did not serve.

• Trent Lott: did not serve.

• John Ashcroft: did not serve. (Seven deferments!)

• Jeb Bush: did not serve.

• Karl Rove: did not serve.

• Saxby Chambliss: did not serve. (Because of his "bad knee"; and this is the sorry excuse of a
man who attacked Max Cleland's patriotism.)

• Richard Shelby: did not serve.

• Tim Hutchison: did not serve.

• Newt Gingrich: did not serve.

• Don Rumsfeld: served in Navy (1954-57) as flight instructor.

• Kemp: did not serve. The active NFL star had a "knee problem."

• Dan Quayle: Journalism unit of the Indiana National Guard.

• Rudy Giuliani: did not serve.

• George Pataki: did not serve.

• Phil Gramm: did not serve.

• Ronald Reagan: Even our old friend reagan, didn't fight the good fight. "Poor eyesight" kept him in a non-combat role, making propaganda films. But it didn't keep him from accidentally remembering himselv in combat service years later, only to be reminded that was just a movie.

And don't forget: * George W. Bush: failed to complete his six-year National Guard; got assigned to Alabama so he could campaign for family friend running for U.S. Senate; failed to show up for required medical exam, disappeared from duty.

Neocons:

• Paul Wolfowitz: did not serve.

• Richard Perle: did not serve.

• Douglas Feith: did not serve.

• Eliot Abrams: did not serve.

• Bill Kristol: did not serve.

Oh yeah, and here's the record for the top echelon of the media's patriots. These, of course, are the people questioning Kerry's patriotism:

• Sean Hannity: did not serve.

• Rush Limbaugh: did not serve. (4-F with a 'pilonidal cyst.')

• Bill O'Reilly: did not serve.

• Paul Gigot: did not serve.

• Bill Bennett: did not serve.

• Pat Buchanan: did not serve.

• Ralph Reed: did not serve.

• Michael Medved: did not serve.

If your not a Veteran then keep your mouth shut. If you are veteran then should know better then to slam another vet. Veterans have earned the right to bitch, others haven't

What Bush did to John McClain in the 2000 primaries and what Saxby Chambliss did to Max Cleland should go to the hall of shame. No one sacrificed more for their country then these two men. Questioning their Patriotism by Republicans in general and by Bush and Chambliss in particular my oh my. Why did Vietnam Veterans let this happen?
