Patch Thinks on War

Well 40 years ago this summer, I was in Southeast Asia (Vietnam and Thailand) from
March thru most of Sept. 1965.

Ever since then I tried defining why we go to war. What makes us volunteer, what reasons? Romanticism, watching John Wayne movies? I think most young guys go for the fun of it, adventure, knowing going into the armed service will be like no other experience one is ever likely to have in life.

But what do we fight for? Two things always come up.
1. Freedom
2. The American Way of Life.

Freedom; I thought was easy. Freedom to me is the Constitution in general and the Bill of Rights in particular. The Bill of Rights defines American freedom to my mind. We keep these rights and we the people remain free. That’s why the Patriot Act and other laws being passed to fight terrorism is so scary, they all attack these rights. Without these rights are we free? There is a lot of things in the Patriot Act that attack these rights but the worse is that the act is being made permanent. Pass laws that lets your government operate in secret and you no longer have freedom, just letting our government operate in secret as we are now doing and freedom disappears, laws or no laws. We should allow no law defeat the Bill of Rights and limit the amount of secrets that we allow the government to operate in.

American Way of Life; Now this one is a tough one, I haven’t been able to defined it to myself in 40 years of trying. (The first 21 years I was too busy getting the American Way of Life to wonder exactly what it was.)
Just what is the American Way of Life and why is it worth fighting and dying over? Like it’s been said, I can’t define it but I know when I see it, is about as close as I can come. I guess the best way is to look at any war we are being ask to fight and ask two questions, one, will this preserve American Freedom, and two, will it preserve the American Way of Life. If the answer to both questions is yes, then one should support/fight the war, if the answer is no, then one should resist/not fight.

What I see that we Americans are doing in this fight against terrorism is trading one for the other, Freedom as represented in the Bill of Rights, for the American Way of Life. We need to wakeup and realize that we can’t have one without the other. Surly we Americans can defeat terrorism without giving up either one or the other.

Comments are welcome.

Veterans

Being a veteran of the U.S. Air Force (1963 – 1967), Southeast Asia (Vietnam , Thailand 1965) had to pass this post on.
Republicans don’t piss me off much, but they do on this issue. Shame on them.

Who Served? A reminder From a kos diary

And don't forget: * George W. Bush: failed to complete his six-year National Guard; got assigned to Alabama so he could campaign for family friend running for U.S. Senate; failed to show up for required medical exam, disappeared from duty.

Shiprock, New Mexico

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

ROTFL ROTFL ROTFL

I was awaken by some very hard pokes to the rib cage. The pokes came from a stick being held by the ugliest Indian in the world, maybe the ugliest person in the world.

Rich and I left the Canadian River, New Mexico area with the Oldham County Texas sheriff deputies hot on our ass. The New Mexico/Texas state line did not hold much meaning to those guys.

The rain saved us from the Texas County Mounties. See, they were driving a Chevy Blazer and I was driving an F-150 Ford. The rain turned the New Mexico dirt roads into skating tracks. The last we seen of the county mounties was that blazer sliding off the road, down an embankment into the Canadian River. Ya man, good old F-150!

Finally made it to Tucumcari, New Mexico and I-40, west bound. At Albuquerque, we cut north to Farmington; there I tried contacting my unnamed Air Force buddy at Cannon AFB. Could not touch bases with him, no answer on his cell or home phone.
Picking up highway 550 to Shiprock, who do we pass hitchhiking, none other then my A.F. buddy. Slamming on the brakes, I backup and stop. My buddy hops in the truck and says, thanks Rob, you cost me my Air Force Commission. What? How the heck did I cost you your commission? Passing UFO information to you is how. UFO information is top secret Rob, and my passing that info to you was against regulations. Wow, how did anyone know that you were passing me info about UFOs. Rob with the Patriot Act in force, THEY KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT EVERYBODY.

That explains why they arrested us, pipes up Rich, it wasn’t the bumper sticker after all! I’ll bet those cops weren’t from Oldham County, but are FBI, CIA or something maybe worse.

What’s worse then FBI or CIA I ask Rich?

Who knows nowadays he answers, everything in Washington is secret. Probably some secret anti-terrorist organization set up by the White House.

Well if those two guys were sent out here to catch us came from the White House that would explain why they were running around Texas in a Chevy Blazer. Dumb. Do you think those idiots in the White House think UFOs belong to al Qaeda, I ask?

Dave speaks up, The White House blames everything on terrorist.

I guess I can give out my Air Force buddy’s name now. Major, now ex Major Dave Jones, who was an Intelligent Officer for the Air Force. Now on the lam with crazy Rich and me, with who knows who after us.

Dave, what’s our next move, I ask. We have to find an Indian named Tony Begaye, somewhere in or around Shiprock, he answers. Actually it’s more then likely he will find us. He knows something about UFOs that use the Navajo Nation as a staging ground.

As the Navajo Nation comprises 25,000 square miles, finding someone without revealing one’s presence could be a problem, don’t you think Dave? Rob my informant said ask one Navajo about UFO Tony Begaye and go park somewhere and Begaye will find you. Sounds Like a plan to me, lets go.

Driving into Shiprock, we stop next to the first Indian we see. Rich jumps out and asked the Navajo did he know UFO Tony Begaye. Never heard of an Indian named that he answered. Well says Rich, there anyplace to camp around here. You guys give me a lift out to my place says the Indian and I’ll show you a place to camp. OK, hop in the back and let’s go.

Now Shiprock is both a small town and a mountain. The Navajo’s place is not too far from the mountain. The Navajo’s home was a good 5 miles back a dirt track, from there he directed us another 2 miles to a nice camp spot. This place where we are camping has a nice little spring and a couple pinion trees for shade. Dave, Rich, and I have been here for two days, waiting for this Tony Begaye to find us.

The morning of the third day is when I woke up with the ugliest Indian in the world poking me in ribs. The Indian says, you awake? I’m Tony Begaye and I hear you guys are looking for me. Hell yes we’re looking for you. Why, he wants to know? We have info that you know something about UFOs. Maybe, he answers.

While we’re talking I’m slowly going cross eyed, as I’m staring down the muzzle of a Marlin model 336c rifle in the caliber of 30-30 I judge. Ah, Tony, there any reason to be pointing that gun at me I ask? If you’re an alien, then yes I do he answers, if your human then no. Well I’m human Tony, now Rich over there I’m not to sure about. Now if the ugliest Indian in the world is going to point a rifle at someone, I’d just soon it be Rich as me.

All this talking finally wakes up my two partners, and we all sit up looking at this Indian.

Which one is Rich?

The one with the aluminum foil around his head, I answer.

The Navajo glances at Rich, but the rifle muzzle doesn’t as much as quiver.

Looking back at me he asks, are you the one in charge? Are you human?

Yes, I’m human even if I’m running around with a crazy man that keeps aluminum foil wrapped around his head.

The ugliest Indian in the world sets the rifle down and asks, I guess you want me to show you the UFO landing spot.

Damn right we all answer, that why we’re looking for you. Where’s it at, we all ask at the same time.

On the north side of Navajo Mountain answers Tony and we’ll have to get there by horseback.

Holly cow, Tony I exclaim, that’s over 100 miles from here, go by horseback? How are we going to get across a 100 miles of desert on horses? Man the temperature is going over 100 degrees during the day, what about water, food? Why horses?

Because there are 53 White House secret agents searching for you guys, answers Tony and if we go by highway they will spot us.

Dave asks, Tony do you know who is directing these agents?

They are under direct control of President Bush.

Hearing this bit of news we all sigh with relief, if that dummy Bush is in charge, then things aren’t too bad and we have a chance

This also explains why the agents are running around in Chevy’s and not Fords or Dodge Rams.

No it doesn’t Rob, says Rich, if Bush decided on what vehicle they were to use, they would be driving something from Japan or Korea.

Now Rich may be crazy, but he’s not stupid, he is most likely right on that score.

Tony explains that he will get the horses and enough supplies to get us over to Many Farms in Arizona, There we can re supply, then go north to Kayenta. I have friends that will hide us in both places Tony continues, and give us the latest news on the White House Agents. Be ready to leave day after tomorrow, I’ll have everything we’ll need said Tony.

Bring us some cowboy clothes and hats, said Dave, so we’ll look more like locals. Rob, We’ll have to camouflage the truck, Bush will think of satellites sooner or later.

Two mornings later, about an hour before daylight, Tony Begaye, again woke me up by poking me with stick. Motioning me to be quiet and to follow him, Tony led me away from camp, leaving the others sleeping. You sure you want to keep chasing UFOs, Tony ask, pointing to a large UFO that’s making its way across the desert in a northwest direction.

I think so I answered Tony, these UFOs seem to be leading me somewhere.

Well you better be sure he says. Do you think I was born this ugly, Tony asked? I was a pretty much a normal looking Indian until I was abducted he continued, now look at me.

We’re standing there watching this UFO slowly making its way to the northwest. Tony goes on saying he thinks Rich is an alien spy and that Rich probably has a computer chip and transmitter implanted in his head so he can send messages and info to the alien spaceship and that Rich most likely doesn’t know this.

Tony, I ask, can you get us to Many Farms alive? Sure Rob, no problem with doing that as long as those secret agents don’t discover us. Tony I only counted three saddle horses, that’s one short by my count.

I don’t ride horses Rob, to hard on the butt, I walk where ever I go, he answers.

You’re going to walk?

Ya, Rob, that’s not a problem, the problem is that helicopter that’s coming right at us.

Sure enough there’s a Blackhawk, all black with no running lights. Tony and I watched as the Blackhawk came closer, Bush’s guys no doubt. The pilot turned the choppers spot light on us and start to speak over the loud speaker when in a nanosecond the UFO was there and sucked the Blackhawk up and sped away to the northwest at the speed of light.

Another big eyes and brown shorts moment. Rich and Dave came running over shouting, what the hells going on, Rob, what the hell’s going on? A UFO just saved us from Bush’s secret agents I replied.

Wow, they both looked confused, how did that happen? The UFO sucked it up like a giant vacuum truck. Guys I continue, Tony asked me if I was sure about this UFO stuff, and I’m asking you both the same thing. Do you want to continue or not?

Rob, you got us this far, we’ll go the whole way with you. What can happen?

What can happen? Let me count, 1st , we could die of thirst trying to cross the reservation. Or Bush’s agents could spot us and make us disappear just for starters, I tell them both.
Then one of those UFOs might suck us up next. Or Rich, you could get snake bit again.

Tony Begaye speaks up, let’s go, we’re wasting daylight. We need to get out in the desert where Bush’s guys can’t find us.

So Patch, here I sit Sunday morning June 26th, not on a horse but a mule. I’m starting to feel like George Hayduke leading the Monkey Wrench Gang. Dave, Rich, and I are placing our lives in the hands of the ugliest Indian in the world and we are going to attempt to cross some of the roughest land in the U.S, at the hottest time of the year.

Patch if you never hear from me again, don’t worry, I either died out here in the Nation somewhere or an UFO has me. Worse things could happen to a guy.

Rob.

Are there UFOs "YES"

Alien
It was on this day in 1997, the Pentagon tried to end the speculation that the United States had intercepted a wrecked alien spacecraft along with alien bodies 50 years ago in Roswell, New Mexico.
There had been a lot of reports of UFOs during the summer of 1947, and during this flying saucer craze, a man in Roswell found debris on his ranch from something that had crashed—and the Air Force came to clean it up.
Alien Newspapers around the world picked up the story. The government later said the object found had been a weather balloon, but UFO enthusiasts thought it was an alien invasion, and the government was trying to cover it up. At a press briefing in 1997, the Pentagon said the bodies found in Roswell had been test dummies and not aliens. Many enthusiasts still beleive that that press briefing, too, was part of the cover-up.

Full Moon

It's Midsummer Night's Eve, also called St. John's Eve. St. John is the patron saint of beekeepers. It's a time when the hives are full of honey. So the full moon that comes this month was called the "mead moon" because honey was fermented to make mead, which is where the word "honeymoon" comes from. It's a time for lovers. As an old Swedish proverb says, "Midsummer night is not long, but it sets many cradles rocking."

Or as we say today "If this camper is rocken, don't come knocken"

Conservative Failure

Patches has some random thoughts not in any particular order.

Conservatives you blew it, you went and lost your way, you can know longer tell north from south, you can’t see the forest for the trees.

Let’s go back to Newt Gingrich and the contract for America, his ally Tom DeLay, and no new taxes. G.W.H. Bush as we know promised no new taxes, but Congress raised taxes, (cost G.W.H. Bush the election) Congress with Clinton as President again raised taxes. Congress also signed the contract with America, and what happened? The contract with America brought fiscal restraint to Congress. This pay as you go, along with the new taxes resulted in an economic boom like never before. By the year 2000 the federal budget was not only under control, but was promising a huge surplus.

Conservatives read the Contract with America and weep.

(As Republican Members of the House of Representatives and as citizens seeking to join that body we propose not just to change its policies, but even more important, to restore the bonds of trust between the people and their elected representatives. )

Some where in 1999 you conservatives went blind, you lost your hearing and your sense of direction. First you lost control of your Congress and then you stepped off the cliff and elected G. Bush. The Contract with America wrecked on the Administration of G. Bush.

Now look, Federal Budget wrecked, deficits mounting by the second to unheard of numbers, federal debt in numbers that are meaningless. Take the projected 2000 budget surplus and pay down federal debt, ten thousand reasons where given why this couldn’t be done, pay back Social Security trust fund, well S.S. will be ok. Oh, tax cuts, that’s what we can do. Might have made sense if the cuts went to the middle class, but you conservatives know that most of the cuts went to the upper income levels. Spin anyway you want but dig deep and you know that the higher incomes got the most (all?) benefit.

Now back to the Contract with America and Tom Delay, one of the signers. What happened to this guy? Living proof that power corrupts. Read the contract that he signed and look where he’s at, why is man being reelected? As the leader of congress, he not only allowed himself to be corrupted, he let everyone. Corporate money has congress tied up tighter then a drum. Ethnics? There is no ethnics is there Mr. Conservative?

Pork spending, why this republican conservative congress would make the most liberal of democrats proud. Democrats never thought that pork spending could be this good.

911 and the war on terrorism? Afghanistan, al Qaeda, and Usama Bin Laden all unfinished products.
Conservatives look in the mirror, are you willing to send your daughters and sons to bleed for democracy in the sands of Iraq, Iran or any place else?

The Bill of Rights being trampled into the dirt in the name of terrorism. Read the Patriot Act, look at home land security, look closely and you will see the Constitution and the Bill of Rights going down the tubes. Bush will let you have the 4th amendment, go ahead shoot each other, but he wants the other 9 amendments, starting with the 1st.

Smaller government, more power to the states, don’t make me laugh. Read the No Child Left Behind Act, so much for state rights.

Main Stream News, conservatives the problem here isn’t what they are publishing it’s what their not. We should be putting pressure on the main stream news to be finding and publishing the truth.

Another thing, get off of Kerry’s war record, he has one and Bush doesn’t, so drop it.

OK, this is probably enough to make my point. If we the voters don’t get corporate America out of our government, we are going to lose our Democracy. It may be too late! I’m going to post the Contract for America below.

Contrack with America

REPUBLICAN CONTRACT WITH AMERICA

As Republican Members of the House of Representatives and as citizens seeking to join that body we propose not just to change its policies, but even more important, to restore the bonds of trust between the people and their elected representatives.

That is why, in this era of official evasion and posturing, we offer instead a detailed agenda for national renewal, a written commitment with no fine print.

This year's election offers the chance, after four decades of one-party control, to bring to the House a new majority that will transform the way Congress works. That historic change would be the end of government that is too big, too intrusive, and too easy with the public's money. It can be the beginning of a Congress that respects the values and shares the faith of the American family.

Like Lincoln, our first Republican president, we intend to act "with firmness in the right, as God gives us to see the right." To restore accountability to Congress. To end its cycle of scandal and disgrace. To make us all proud again of the way free people govern themselves.
On the first day of the 104th Congress, the new Republican majority will immediately pass the following major reforms, aimed at restoring the faith and trust of the American people in their government:

FIRST, require all laws that apply to the rest of the country also apply equally to the Congress;

SECOND, select a major, independent auditing firm to conduct a comprehensive audit of Congress for waste, fraud or abuse;

THIRD, cut the number of House committees, and cut committee staff by one-third;

FOURTH, limit the terms of all committee chairs;

FIFTH, ban the casting of proxy votes in committee;

SIXTH, require committee meetings to be open to the public;

SEVENTH, require a three-fifths majority vote to pass a tax increase;

EIGHTH, guarantee an honest accounting of our Federal Budget by implementing zero base-line budgeting.

Thereafter, within the first 100 days of the 104th Congress, we shall bring to the House Floor the following bills, each to be given full and open debate, each to be given a clear and fair vote and each to be immediately available this day for public inspection and scrutiny.

1. THE FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY ACT: A balanced budget/tax limitation amendment and a legislative line-item veto to restore fiscal responsibility to an out- of-control Congress, requiring them to live under the same budget constraints as families and businesses. (Bill Text) (Description)

2. THE TAKING BACK OUR STREETS ACT: An anti-crime package including stronger truth-in- sentencing, "good faith" exclusionary rule exemptions, effective death penalty provisions, and cuts in social spending from this summer's "crime" bill to fund prison construction and additional law enforcement to keep people secure in their neighborhoods and kids safe in their schools. (Bill Text) (Description)

3. THE PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY ACT: Discourage illegitimacy and teen pregnancy by prohibiting welfare to minor mothers and denying increased AFDC for additional children while on welfare, cut spending for welfare programs, and enact a tough two-years-and-out provision with work requirements to promote individual responsibility. (Bill Text) (Description)

4. THE FAMILY REINFORCEMENT ACT: Child support enforcement, tax incentives for adoption, strengthening rights of parents in their children's education, stronger child pornography laws, and an elderly dependent care tax credit to reinforce the central role of families in American society. (Bill Text) (Description)

5. THE AMERICAN DREAM RESTORATION ACT: A S500 per child tax credit, begin repeal of the marriage tax penalty, and creation of American Dream Savings Accounts to provide middle class tax relief. (Bill Text) (Description)

6. THE NATIONAL SECURITY RESTORATION ACT: No U.S. troops under U.N. command and restoration of the essential parts of our national security funding to strengthen our national defense and maintain our credibility around the world. (Bill Text) (Description)

7. THE SENIOR CITIZENS FAIRNESS ACT: Raise the Social Security earnings limit which currently forces seniors out of the work force, repeal the 1993 tax hikes on Social Security benefits and provide tax incentives for private long-term care insurance to let Older Americans keep more of what they have earned over the years. (Bill Text) (Description)

8. THE JOB CREATION AND WAGE ENHANCEMENT ACT: Small business incentives, capital gains cut and indexation, neutral cost recovery, risk assessment/cost-benefit analysis, strengthening the Regulatory Flexibility Act and unfunded mandate reform to create jobs and raise worker wages. (Bill Text) (Description)

9. THE COMMON SENSE LEGAL REFORM ACT: "Loser pays" laws, reasonable limits on punitive damages and reform of product liability laws to stem the endless tide of litigation. (Bill Text) (Description)

10. THE CITIZEN LEGISLATURE ACT: A first-ever vote on term limits to replace career politicians with citizen legislators. (Description)
Further, we will instruct the House Budget Committee to report to the floor and we will work to enact additional budget savings, beyond the budget cuts specifically included in the legislation described above, to ensure that the Federal budget deficit will be less than it would have been without the enactment of these bills.
Respecting the judgment of our fellow citizens as we seek their mandate for reform, we hereby pledge our names to this Contract with America.

For you that don’t care, get your head out of your butt.

What amazes me is the amount of people that don’t watch PBS or listen to NPR that are 100% against them. Many people without ever watching or listening label both organizations as being liberal/leftist funded entirely by the Federal Government. Few have any idea how NPR/PBS are funded, most think all the funding comes from the government.
The force behind all this are multi-national corporations that shows like frontline shine a spotlight on.

West Texas

Canadian River, West Texas
ROTFLROTFLROTFLROTFL

From Rob, June 18th, Canadian River, West Texas, near the New Mexico border.

Well that stupid guy Rich went and got snake bit. Not by your regular old western diamondback ratter, but one that had to be over 5ft. long and mean as they come.

After leaving Star Bucks in Dallas, we headed west for Clovis N.M. Stopping at Lubbock, Texas; I got hold of my Air Force buddy. He said there had been sighting along the Canadian River near the New Mexico/Texas border. Off we went.

Darn good thing my truck is 4 wheel drive, as it’s needed in this country. We ran into a rancher who let us camp on his land near the river. The first night was uneventful, but things changed fast on the second night. Just after sunset, we spotted a UFO, and it looked liked the same one that I saw in Emory.

Rich and I jumped in the truck and took off following the UFO up the river. After following the thing for an hour, the UFO stopped and turned facing us. I stopped the truck and quickly put on my UFO hat and wrapped Rich’s head with aluminum foil.

We left the truck where it was and started walking toward the UFO. I told that dummy Rich to watch where he was stepping as there was cow patties everywhere and I didn’t want cow sh** tracked into my truck. That’s when he stepped on the biggest rattlesnake I’ve ever seen.

I mean how dumb can one be? Of course the snake bit him, not once but twice. Rich jump about ten feet after the snake bit him, knocking me down and knocking my UFO hat off.

The UFO was about a mile away when all this happened, but as soon as that hat fell off, here it comes! Now I’ve got a five foot long pissed off rattlesnake crawling around me, a snake bit dummy flopping around screaming his head off and a UFO heading toward me. Another big eyes and brown shorts moment. And I was worried about some cow sh**!

What to do, what to do, nothing as the snake was now about 6 inches from my nose. Rich is flopping ever closer to me and the snake, the UFO is getting closer by the second and I smell cow sh**. Naturally I fell on a fresh cow patty.

I yell at Rich to stop flopping around if he didn’t want bit again, but he just keeps flopping. Now the UFO is right on top of us and lights us up with that bluish/white flood light. I swear I see the thing shaking. It’s laughing at us, sure as anything it’s laughing, laughing so hard the whole UFO is shaking.

How did this happen, laying in cow sh**, a 5ft. rattlesnake so close its tongue almost touches my nose, and a UFO has me dead in its sights. Man was I having fun or what? I froze, scared to move, thinking if I move I’m dead.

Finally, after what seemed forever, the snake crawls away, the UFO turns the flood light off and takes off, heading west. Rich keeps flopping around until he kicks me in the head 2 or 3 times before I can get up and away from him.

I jump up and grab Rich and hold him down until he calms down enough to understand what I’m saying. I tell him to quit moving as that will make the poison spread faster. Using my belt I make a tourniquet around his leg and take off for the truck.

Getting Rich into the truck, I head for Amarillo, the nearest city with a hospital. Amarillo is a good 100 miles away and the way Rich is swelling up, he looks like half of the Pillsbury Dough Boy, I have doubt that he’ll make it. Well, I’m now sure that Rich isn’t an alien, as I doubt that a snake bite would hurt an alien.

Twelve hours later I’m sitting in the Oldham County jail all thanks to that dummy Rich stepping on a snake. DWI is why I’m in the jail, plus speeding, plus failing to obey.

Finally on reaching a highway, I take off for Amarillo at over 100 mph so says the county police. Also I had a big thirst on after all that happened, so I drank a couple of Lone Stars while driving toward Amarillo. That’s when the county mounties pulled me over. They start telling me to do this, do that and I start yelling at them that my buddy is snake bit and dying. Well after me having a fit, they check on Rich and said ya your right, looks like he’s dying. Well I have to give these cops some credit, after checking Rich out the called for a helicopter to transfer him to a Amarillo hospital. Then arrested me for DWI, speeding and not obeying an officer, so here I sit in the Oldham County, Texas drunk tank. If Rich lives, I’m going to kill him, I knew better then to let guy tag along.

Here in Oldham County Texas when arrested you are allowed one phone call. They just don’t say when you can make it. My plan was to call Patch to come and bail my sorry ass out of here, and out of Texas.

Saturday June 18th, Oldham County Texas jail. Have been sitting here over 36 hrs. when in walks Rich! Wait a minute, the last time I saw this guy he looked liked death warmed over. Now he waltzes in like nothing ever happened.

Hay Rob, I’ve got everything taken care of, all you have to do is plead guilty to speeding and having an open container and we’re off.
What? I thought you were dead or near dead, what happened?
Ah, couple of shots of anti-venom and I’m good as new.

Well I don’t say anything to this statement, but I’m thinking no way. Anti-venom stops the poison but doesn’t make you better. Ok, let’s get out of here first, then try to find out what happened.

Two hundred sixty seven dollars of fines and one hundred dollar impoundment fee, Rich and I were back on the road.
Rob, you know why those county cops busted you?
No, why?
Because of that Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker on the back of your truck, that’s why.
This is Republican country, Rob. Soon as we get back to camp, let’s scrape that sticker off.
Well this makes sense as everyone knows a 1989 F-150 won’t go a 100 miles an hour, and two cans of Lone Star will not make you drunk, hell a 12 pack of Lone Star won’t make anyone drunk.

We made it back to our camp and find the rancher on who’s land we're camping, sitting there waiting for us to show up. Hear you boys have been having fun, he says. I told you all not to chase those UFOs. And walking around here at night is a good way to get snake bit, he adds.

He goes on telling us we better move across the Texas line into New Mexico as those county cops still want a piece of us. He owns land over there and gives us directions to get there. So we thank the old guy, pack up camp and head out across the Texas State line into New Mexico.

We set up camp again beside the Canadian River. We’re sitting by a nice fire drinking the last of the Lone Star (no more of this stuff) and I’m trying to get Rich to explain a few things. Like, how did he recover from that snake bite? What did he say to that Texas Judge that let me off so easy? I’m also back to thinking this guy is an alien after all.

Any way, as we were driving out of Amarillo, I called my Air Force buddy. He said, Rob go to Ship Rock and hung up. Now what? This guy always has something to say, normally you can’t get him to hang up. Ship Rock, that’s up on the Navajo Nation, could the UFO be up there?

Ok, Patch. We leave in the morning for Ship Rock. On the way I’m determined to get some answers from Rich. I mean what’s up with this guy? Should I dump him or keep him close and watch him?

Patch, I’ll try to keep you posted as to what I’m doing and where I’m at. I’m sure if this Rich stays around, something will happen.

Rob

P.S. Patch, all this time, Rich has this aluminum foil wrapped around his head and not one of those Texans said a thing to him about it. Not one, wouldn’t you think someone would ask him about it? In fact, he still has it on, says you never know when an UFO will show up.

Another thing Patch, Rich ask me “do you know what today is?’. Ya, it’s Fathers Day. No, today is Juneteenth day. Patch, what the heck is Juneteenth Day?

Something Missing Here?

Tuesday, May 24, 2005.
Hyundai Opens First U.S. Auto Plant
Reuters
MONTGOMERY, Alabama -- Hyundai, which officially opened its first U.S. car assembly plant on Friday, expects its U.S. sales to rise about 16 percent this year to about 485,000 vehicles, said Bob Cosmai, head of Hyundai Motor America

Nissan opened a plant in Canton, Miss., in 2003 mostly to make SUVs and pickups. Toyota will open a truck plant next year in San Antonio, Texas. And in Alabama the other two assembly plants — Mercedes' in Vance, and Honda's in Lincoln — have both doubled in recent years.
Foreign-owned automakers have invested $27 billion and created 55,000 jobs during the last two decades in factories alone, according to the Association of International Automobile Manufacturers.

G.M. plans on laying off 25,000 and closing plants in the U.S

WILMINGTON, Del. — General Motors Corp. may be closing more plants and eliminating the jobs of one of every six employees in the United States …the crux of which involves eliminating 25,000 manufacturing jobs by 2008 from its U.S. work force of 150,000

Is Patches missing something here?

Real Conservatives???

Real Conservative Values
One of the more preposterous things I see many on the lefty blogosphere post about is how George Bush is not a "real" conservative. In making this argument, many bloggers go on to cite the supposed conservative values that George Bush does not represent. These values go something like this:
"Real" conservatives value fiscal responsibility and solvency, but George Bush does not
"Real" conservatives value personal liberties, but George Bush does not.
"Real" conservatives are not interested in overseas adventurism, especially without the help of our allies, but George Bush does not.To all of this I say hogwash. George Bush is a self-proclaimed conservative. In this election, 84% of those people who identify as conservatives voted for George Bush, thereby endorsing his policies. I say, and my Catholic upbringing says, that your actions are your beliefs, and there is no difference between the two. Considering this, it is time to face some facts:
Real conservatives value fiscal insolvency, including irresponsible tax cuts, corporate giveaways, massive spending increases, huge undisclosed pork-barrel spending projects hammered out during congressional conference, rather than actual budget legislation on the Congressional floor that is open to the public and recorded in the public record. You know that conservatives value these things, because these are the things the vast majority of self-proclaimed conservatives do.
Real conservatives do not value your personal liberties. They like disenfranchising voters, challenging voters, and making it more difficult to vote. They like it when the government is in your bedroom. They want to be able to spy on your personal files. They do not respect your right to privacy. They like to tell you who you can and cannot love, and what you can and cannot do to your own body. You know these are conservative values, because conservatives regularly pass laws of this nature.
Real conservatives like to recklessly use the military They love war, and regularly resort to it as one of their first choices. They have no respect for the lives their policies destroy, as long as they have more bases overseas. They derive their values from violence, and detest peace. They will come up with any excuse possible, and cynically invent several more, to use force whenever possible, wherever possible. You know these are conservative values, because these are the actions conservatives take.Real conservatives are bloodthirsty, reckless with our tax money, and want to tell you how to live your life. They are intolerant, warmongering and irresponsible. You know these are real conservatives values, because you can find anyone's beliefs in what they do, not what they say.

White House Staffer or Oil Company Executive

Utterly discredited? You've got the job.
OK, now we've seen everything. Philip A. Cooney, the White House staffer who last week got busted for "revising" government scientific reports to minimize the link between human activity and global warming, is going to work for ... ExxonMobil!
Just posted at the New York Times:
An Exxon spokesman, Tom Cirigliano, declined to describe Mr. Cooney's new job. Associates of Mr. Cooney said he planned to move to Dallas. Mr. Cooney did not return e-mail or phone messages.ExxonMobil has long financed advertising and lobbying efforts that question whether human-caused warming poses sufficiently serious risks to justify curbing carbon dioxide, the main greenhouse gas emitted by smokestacks and tailpipes.
Today, Mr. Cirigliano said the oil company was committed to acting responsibly on the issue. ...
Some climate scientists and environmental campaigners said Mr. Cooney's quick shift from the White House to Exxon was evidence of a near-seamless relationship between the Bush administration and the oil industry.
"Perhaps he won't even notice he has changed jobs," said David G. Hawkins, who directs the climate center at the Natural Resources Defense Council, a private environmental group.
No matter how cynical you get, you just can't keep up with these guys.
Philip A. Cooney is the chief of staff of the White House Council on Environmental Quality, an institution that shapes much of America's environmental policy.
Mr. Cooney is a lawyer and holds a bachalors degree in economics. Prior to his current position he was a "climate team leader" and lobbyist with the American Petroleum Institute.

RISE AND FALL AND RISE....ExxonMobil timeline:
· Seven days ago: "President's George Bush's decision not to sign the United States up to the Kyoto global warming treaty was partly a result of pressure from ExxonMobil, the world's most powerful oil company, and other industries, according to US State Department papers seen by the Guardian."
· Also seven days ago: "A White House official who once led the oil industry's fight against limits on greenhouse gases has repeatedly edited government climate reports in ways that play down links between such emissions and global warming, according to internal documents....The official, Philip A. Cooney, removed or adjusted descriptions of climate research that government scientists and their supervisors...had already approved."
· Five days ago: "Philip A. Cooney, the chief of staff to President Bush’s Council on Environmental Quality, resigned yesterday, White House officials said."
· Today: "Philip A. Cooney, the former White House staff member who repeatedly revised government scientific reports on global warming, will go to work for Exxon Mobil this fall, the oil company said yesterday."
Patch has always said, one cannot tell where the Bush Administration and Congress stops and the oil industry begins.

War for Pork
If the United States ever withdraws from Iraq and the central government collapses, or, god forbid, the country plunges into civil war, who's going to get blamed? Why, the liberal media, of course, along with various antiwar types who, as Tom Friedman declared, "don't want the Bush team to succeed." Because naturally, every morning, Zarqawi and his band of jihadists wake up, depressed and unsure if they can get through the day, moping about until they take their first sip of coffee and see the New York Times front page cheering them on. Then they get "emboldened" and spring to action. That's why Iraq has so many problems, you know. Surely this sort of stuff isn't to blame:
Congress, taking advantage of wartime support of national defense spending, is using the military's budget to steer billions to pet projects that apparently have little to do with Iraq or the ongoing war on terrorism, according to congressional documents, government budget officials, and watchdog groups.
The projects range from an unneeded warship and a seriously flawed cargo plane the Pentagon tried to cancel to millions each for a Mississippi wastewater treatment plant, a Nevada fire training station, and a Texas research hospital, the documents show.
The liberal media made them do it? (Mother Jones)

Here in Ohio, it’s more and more apparent that the vote for President was fraudulent. And now it’s becoming apparent that the money to finance the fraud was stolen from the state. In one voting district, there were 5000 more votes then voters in the district. Just so happens all 5000 votes were for Bush. Patch is so surprised!

Surprizes Me

WASHINGTON – The income gap between the rich and the rest of the US population has become so wide, and is growing so fast, that it might eventually threaten the stability of democratic capitalism itself.
Is that a liberal's talking point? Sure. But it's also a line from the recent public testimony of a champion of the free market: Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan.
Is the gap between rich and poor so wide that it will threaten the stability of the US economy?

Washington more open to business than usual
Pending legislation reflects the most business-friendly climate in years.
By Gail Russell Chaddock Staff writer of The Christian Science Monitor
WASHINGTON – US business groups are looking for another leap forward for their agenda from Capitol policymakers - in everything from new legislation to the appointment of conservative judges and shifts at key regulatory agencies.
In what could be the most business-friendly climate since the days of President McKinley, President Bush and the GOP-controlled Congress are moving to extend corporate tax breaks, pass pension reforms, allow oil drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, and limit lawsuits - including a settlement of asbestos litigation that has driven 70 companies into bankruptcy.

Rob is in Texas

Rob’s Story
On seeing internet photos of aliens (space) and UFO sightings in Emory Texas, I had to go and check it out. Emory, Texas is east of Dallas, out in the middle of nowhere. Perfect place for UFOs.
Well, no one in Emory knows anything about pictures or sightings of space aliens, but lots of talk about illegal Mexican aliens. And plenty of talk about UFO sightings. The locals say seeing UFOs zooming around is no big deal. And in fact there had been lots of recent sighting, mostly northwest of town.
After some B.S. with the locals I was direct to a pasture northwest of town where I could camp. Returning to my truck to go and find this pasture, who should turn up but this Rich, whom I had hooked up with on my last trip to Texas. Rich is the guy that was with me chasing UFOs all the way to Idaho. He’s the one I suspected of being an alien. He wanted to go with me to find this pasture, but I turned him down as I don’t trust this guy.
After driving about 5 miles out of town, I found the pasture. Finding a nice grassy place without any cow paddies, I put up my tent and started drinking some Lone Star beer. A few minutes after sunset, I could see what looked like car lights moving thru a tree line that was about 1.5 kilometers across the pasture.
These lights were about 3 – 4 meters apart and looked like they were moving from my right to left. (west to east). After watching the lights for a few minutes, I realized that the lights weren’t moving but blinking on and off. This blinking gave the appearance of moving.
I watched these lights about 10 minutes when they start to move up above the trees. Man I jumped up and grabbed a pair of binoculars. By now the lights are 30 to 40 meters above the trees. After watching the lights for a while I could see that the lights where part of a larger object.
The object was a shade darker then the back round. Finally I could make out that the object was football shaped, the lights running down the middle, the bottom flatter then the top, and the back narrowing down more then the front. Reminded me more of a nuclear submarine then anything.
Now I had been watching about 10 minutes, and it dawned on me this was a UFO. Holy Cow!! I couldn’t believe it, a UFO no more then 1 mile away. At realizing this I also realized that the damn thing was starting to move toward me.
Aluminum hat, where was my aluminum hat? A frantic search began for the hat as I realized the UFO had detected me. It was like a horror movie, scrambling around looking for the hat and the UFO moving toward me faster and faster. At last, found the hat on the front seat of the truck. Man I slammed that hat my head so hard I liked to knock myself out. Laugh if you want, but soon as I put on the hat, the UFO seemed to lose focus and started to drift around.
The UFO started sweeping the area from left to right and back. Let me tell you I know what one of those insurgents in Iraq feels like when looking down the barrel of a Blackhawk gunship. It sucks! After a few seconds, the UFO pointed itself right at my camp and started coming my way.
Soon as it started I crawled under the truck and watched. As the UFO came up to my camp, it lit the whole area up. The light was the same bluish, white light as the UFO used out in Idaho. Man it was big eyes and brown shorts time. That bad boy hovered over the camp for what seemed like forever. Then, ZOOM, gone! Fast is not the word, from my campsite to the horizon in a nanosecond. West, it moved west again, just like the last time.
Well all this called for some more lone star. Standing there drinking and thinking about what to do, when here comes this Rich guy. You see that he asks? What are you going to do, Rob, he wants to know. I don’t know, head west and try to relocate the darn thing. Can I go with you? He asks me.
Well from Emory Texas to Clovis N.M., which I was thinking of going to next, is a long way. Ya, you can go, but no funny stuff, like bailing out when another UFO shows up. Ok, I can help with the driving. We’ll leave in the morning.
Well we are now close to Dallas and we stopped at a Star Bucks to get internet access to send this post to Patch to put on her blog. Rich took the truck to fuel up, check the oil for the long drive ahead. I still don’t trust this guy as he is one weird person. He talks with a low voice so you are always saying, what? I think he does it on purposes, so I don’t talk to him. I just tell him what to do, take exit so and so, go right and stop at Star Bucks. He doesn’t seem to mind, just does what I say.
I need to get to Clovis to see my unnamed Air Force buddy for any classified information he may have on UFOs. I’m almost betting that I’m going to end up in the Black Rock Desert again. Not a good place to be this time of the year. (HOT) And Burning Man isn’t till August.
Anyway, we are heading to Cannon A.F.B., New Mexico. Should have internet access there and will report what happened on getting there and any plans that I come up with.

Rob

P.S. This Rich, he doesn't have an aluminum lined hat and that UFO did not go after him or seem aware that he was around. This guy is brain dead or an alien, either one is possible. Have to keep my eye on him.

More Thoughts on 911

Patch (roughly) thinks The Bush Administration took a page out of history to start their war with Iraq.
Remember Pearl Harbor? In the summer of 1941 the army, navy and the FDR Administration knew that Japan was planning an attack on the US. After all both the Japanese diplomatic and military codes were broken. Roosevelt was having a very hard time getting America on a war footing. He had strong opposition to any war in Congress and from organizations as America First. America First Committee, founded in September 1940, was the most powerful isolationist group in America before the United States entered World War II. It had over 800,000 members, who wanted to keep America neutral.
How much FDR knew about Japanese plans are disputed by historians. But Patch thinks they defiantly knew there was going to be an attack on an US territory. I also think they underestimated the Japanese and thought Pearl Harbor was beyond Japanese abilities. Army and Navy intelligence were looking at targets much closer to Japan. They hedged this by sending all 4 aircraft carriers out sea, away from Pearl. Well we know what happened, FDR had his war. (America First was dissolved four days after the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941.)
I think the Bush Administration used this bit of history to start the Iraqi war. I think they knew there was going to be a terrorist attack and knew it was going to be on 911. But again, as FDR did, they underestimated their enemy. Again they were thinking that al-Qaeda would attack closer to home and did not have the ability to pull off the attacks on the World Trade Center and Washington. (There is evidence that they knew that the Plane attacks were for real, as Imera has posted.)
(.... messages were not translated until Sept. 12, senior U.S. intelligence officials said yesterday. This excuse was also used in the fall of 1941.)
What they did or didn't know made little difference, they let the attacks happen, and they had their war. (Most opposition to war with Iraq dissolved by 9/12.
And I still think it's about oil. Bush has so many oil company executives in his administration it's a wonder that the oil companies can operate. Now saying all this, I more or less agree with two dogs, it's hard to believe that this could happen without someone spilling the beans. (Think Richard Clarke) If it is a conspiracy, it's a huge one. Then again, G.H.W.Bush, Chaney, Rumsfeld Wolfowitz, Bolton, and many more have been working together going back to the Nixon Administration. (In and out of government.)
Also I don't think these guys are conservatives. They are much closer to being fascist as being conservatives.
Did G.M. and other major corporations bet on the Bush to win in Iraq and for more and cheaper oil supplies? (Boeing - Airlines?)
F-15 scrambled on 911 to shoot down the airlines? There is no way F-15's were flying around at mach 1 or better without most people on the east coast knowing it. Ever hear a sonic boom? Even at altitudes of 30,000 + ft, sonic boom are loud.

Iraq 2002

Iraq, 2002GlobalSecurity.org posted this image showing new construction (in enlarged boxes) at the Tuwaitha nuclear research center southeast of Baghdad, Iraq. The Iraqi Foreign ministry immediately responded by showing a picture of the image at a press conference and denying that the facility was being used for military purposes. The Iraqis then led Western journalists on a carefully controlled guided tour of portions of the facility to demonstrate that it did not have WMD function. The release of the Tuwaitha image marks the first time that an NGO has successfully used commercial imagery to influence the behavior of a country believed to be illegally pursuing a WMD capability.
Iraq, nor likly any other country, could hide a nuclear program from US intelligence. If its there the US knows where, when, and most likly whom.

Russian/Cuban Missile Site !962

Piercing Piercing Piercing
Russian/Cuban Missile Site 1962

Now this is evidence. There are those whom want me to believe that US intelligence failed President Bush. No Way! The US was all over Iraq from the day the Gulf War ended to right now. Satellites, stealth aircraft flyovers, Special Forces and CIA on the ground inside Iraqi borders. Camera technology today is unbelievable, and who knows what kind of detection equipment the US has today. Infrared, x ray, biological, chemical, nuclear air sampling detectors, night vision!!! And the Bush Administration wants me to believe that there was a failure of Intel. No Way. The Iraqi’s couldn’t take a sh** without the US knowing it. Well maybe that but not much more.
OK, that’s Rob’s rant for the day.

Health Care

Health Care; What is to be done about health care? It's clear to Rob that this is rapidity becoming the #1 problem for society, if it isn't already. Here is a link to a possible answer. http://www.qando.net/default.aspx scroll down to the section on universal health coverage, be sure to read the comments. In fact this blog is a good read.
While our President is out trying to destroy S.S., the health care crisis keeps growing, security on our borders (Mexican) remain unsecured.Dosen't "homeland security" sound so fascist or communist? Why not use American security? Everytime I use my company health insurance card, I think, what would I do without it? And why should I or my family get better health care then anyone else? Surly not because I have a better job and/or more money. I keep reading, but I see nothing to make me believe that market force is the answer. It's going to take a combination of things. Of course I don't think any system has all the answers.
Anyway the link above will give one something to think about.

ROTFL
Rob has taken off again, I'm not sure where. I think he's going to Southeast Asia to vist all those war time memories. (I think Rob is having a 40 year crises or something.) Or he may be headed to Emory, Tx. as there are new UFO sightings down there. He wanted to take Hampton, but Hampton's mother said he is to young to go to a foreign country. Rob said most Texas speak English and they drive on the right side of the road, but the answer was still no. This picture supposedly came from Texas, but Rob dosen't think so. He said Aliens may take a human form , most likly they are nothing but some form of energy and can't be seen.
I'll post anything that Rob sends me from where ever he goes.
